34”, very brightly colored in wash and outline. Fine overall. Not in
Phillips Maps or Roberts & Bloomer. $500.00
Striking West Virginia county map constructed on a scale of 1 ½” per mile
and showing fine detail. Shows fine detail of land owners, roads, rail
lines and general topographic features. Lithographed in Philadelphia by
the E.P. Knoll company who published many very well drawn and brightly
colored local and regional maps into the early 20th century.
John P. Kearfott, likely the father of J.Baker, first published a Berkeley
County map in 1849 on which this edition is most probably based.
