Ensign & Thayer State of New York.
Ensign, Thayer & Co., 1851. 18mo, embossed roan, cerograph, outline color,
19.7" x 26".
Clean and bright, few repaired separations, very good or
better. $300.00
An uncommon pocket map of the state
likely intended as a traveler's guide. County borders and
rail routes are brightly colored in outline. An
historical sketch, population table, large rail station
and distance table and vignette of the state seal and
motto appear. O.A. Hall - Morse's Cerography is credited
with the lettering. Wax engraved maps issued by Ensign,
Thayer et al, considering their rather crude appearance
and lack of detail, probably did not sell quite well
during the 1850's

Very Scarce Pair of
Atlantic City Views
[NJ]
Bird's-Eye View of Atlantic City, showing Pinehurst on the Right and
Pleasantville Terrace on the Left.
Victor J. Humbrecht, 1904. States I & II, two sheets,
chromolithographs, full color, each 16" x 22" folds as issued. One very
small point separation, otherwise fine. Not in Hebert. $850.00
A Striking pair of chromolithograph real estate promotionals, issued by
Victor Humbrecht president of the Atlantic City Lot Co. of Philadelphia.
Perspective is quite distorted allowing structures in the planned
communities of Pleasantville Terrace and Pinehurst to be as recognizable
as those along the Boardwalk. Development within Pleasantville and
Pinehurst is limited to a handful of new residences and public buildings.
Philadelphia and New York City appear visible on the horizon.
Reps notes only one state. Very Scarce.
