C21.27  Mayer, Ferd  Newark (East Of Mulberry 1820-25).  NY, Ferdinand Mayer, n.d. but after 1854.  Lithographed broadsheet, 28” x 20” with wide margins.  Upper left margin with ½” x 6” chip extending from the corner, light marginal stain in lower right corner, very good or better overall.  Presently housed in a contemporary ebonized frame.  $650.00
A fine historical view of Newark published by Mayer after 1854 as evidenced by the publisher’s address.  Depicts the city as a bucolic comprised mostly of pasture and farms.  Peters – America On Stone comments that Mayer’s work is above average,  this view is no exception as the lithography is quite fine.
