Kino, Eusebius, Passage by land to California Discover’d by Father Eusebius Francis Kino a Jesuit; between the Years 1698 & 1701.  London, E. Bowen, 1742/62.  Uncolored engraving as issued, 9.2” x 8”, folds.  Light spot of foxing , lower right margin extended correcting binders trim, crisp dark impression, nearly fine.  $500.00
Second English edition of Kino’s influential map , engraved by Emanuel Bowen for John Lockman’s Travels of the Jesuits.  Kino’s explorations in Sonora and the Colorado River areas resulted in not only the first accurate map of the region, but also ultimately in disproving the long-standing belief that California was an island.

Rare promotional issued by the Northern Pacific Railroad extolling the virtues of life in Montana with much geographical, agricultural and mineralogical data.
